Essex Leg - Pilgrim profile

Why keep walking?
There are so many reasons - great friendships, the kindness and hospitality of those who welcome us at our tea stops and night stops on our journey, the opportunity to be a witness to Christ during Holy week and show in some small way that Easter isn't just about Easter eggs and a couple of extra days off work, being part of a community, fantastic liturgy - basically, it is an amazing way to spend Holy Week and to celebrate Easter.

Essential piece of pilgrim kit?
Waterproofs and sunglasses.

Front traffic or support car packer?
Support car packer. I have so far managed to avoid front traffic, but I'm not sure how long that's going to last.

Ideal sandwich filling and accompanying drink?
Hot bacon and mushroom, and a nice cup of tea.

Favourite song (on the road or in the pub)?
Holy song - 'Come let us go up to the mountain of the Lord'
Non holy - 'Brown eyed girl' or 'I useta love her'

What makes a good leg liturgy?
A great chaplain and liturgy secretary, everyone feeling part of the service, also the opportunity (at times) to join in with parish services.

A pilgrim prayer in 20 words or less?
We adore you O Christ and we praise you, because by your Holy Cross, You have redeemed the world.

What Walsingham means to you?
Fantastic liturgies with brilliant music and the opportunity to celebrate Easter with lots and lots of fellow pilgrims.
